Two tori, one per loudspeaker. That is the full listening.
Choose the pairAudio device · metamaterials
A passive object, placed on your loudspeakers or near the amplifier. No cable, no battery, no adjustment.
An elegant, discreet object, 8 × 8 × 2 cm, the Musical Torus is made from metamaterials. A soft cream white, it sits directly on your loudspeakers or near your amplifier.
With no electrical power at all, it works in silence to restructure and purify the sound field, revealing music that is more alive, more detailed, and deeply moving.
Orient the Musical Torus relative to North. Align North with the mark next to “AFYO”.
For the best result, one torus per loudspeaker (two for a stereo pair).
The surest way is to compare, on a recording you already know. Change neither the volume nor the passage.
A voice, a piano, a quartet: a timbre you know. Listen to that passage once or twice, without the torus.
Set it on the loudspeaker, without worrying about orientation yet.
Play the same passage again, at the same volume.
Turn the “AFYO” mark toward North.
Play the same passage once more. It is this second setting that refines the listening.
This protocol is done with one torus. For a stereo pair, then place the second torus on the other loudspeaker, mark toward North.
« After testing the three versions of the Musical Torus on many loudspeakers (Bang & Olufsen, Bowers & Wilkins, ATC, Devialet, Focal, Vivid Audio…), the improvement is very real.
The timbres become more accurate, the harmonics richer and more present, and the musical message gains in clarity and coherence. On some systems, the perceived improvement reaches up to 30 %.
What struck me most is the Torus’s ability to reveal the music more naturally, without any artificial addition. »
« With the arrow pointing north, it’s true, it’s subtle. You immediately notice that in terms of hi-fi, hi-fi quality, sound, bass, midrange, treble, it’s much smoother. It’s, it’s very harmonious. You get more depth of sound. You can hear it, I’d say, audibly, mechanically.
There’s also something important with the tori: whatever the type of speaker, from very high-end to the more modest ones, let’s say, one thing still comes through: the harmonics of the voices, whichever they are, stand out better from the harmonics of the instruments. And that’s incredible. Honestly, even on very high-end systems, you hear the voices better, they’re more projected. Meaning that, roughly, even on a recording of varying quality, CDs or music, let’s say in a super format of course, you feel you’re actually at the concert. And that’s magnificent. Meaning it gives a living quality to human voices and to the harmonics of the music. In recordings of great musicians, that extra, I’d say, spirit, soul, comes through the torus. You can feel that vortex. »
« I had planned to compare, but another idea crosses my mind. Let’s look at the inner diameter… It seems just a little larger than the input triodes of the amp (already treated on the choke, but…) Hmm… Come on, we’ll see!
First I place them any which way around the small tubes, above the carbon rings already in place at the base of the tubes. The TV goes up a bit, okay, and the sound?
At first nothing clear, rather a slight sensation in the belly, like when I make a cross over food.. But wait, maybe there is something…
Hmm let’s orient the tori … And there it’s clear: ho ho… It’s the same!
The same? Yes, “the same, only better!”…
Everything we’d hope for!
The sound is more present, more embodied, creamier too — a little too much — with a striking dynamics, as if the venerable Svetlana triodes were waking up and growing younger… it reaches me in the belly. (Makes me want to change the orientation). Well that starts strong! »
How many tori do I need?
One torus per loudspeaker, so two for a stereo pair. A single torus is already enough to compare, on one loudspeaker or near the amplifier.
Does the Musical Torus need power?
No. It is entirely passive and consumes no energy.
